Angelica NY is a “town where history lives.”
Angelica was settled in 1802 and is the oldest
town in Allegany County NY. The small village
was founded by Captain Philip Church, nephew of
Alexander Hamilton. Capt. Church named the town
in honor of his mother, Angelica Church,
daughter of Gen. Philip Schuyler. Today, only
1000 residents reside in this peaceful town.
Located in the beautiful countryside of the
Allegany Mountain Foothills, Angelica is a
preserved, historic American treasure that
breathes quaint sentiments, reminiscent of
frontier days. In 2000, Angelica’s population
was less than it is was in the year 1830!
